DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRIC SURGERY:
HISTORY:
The newly established department of Pediatric surgery is functioning in a fuIl fledged manner , since May 2011,when the government created new post of Associate Professor of Paediatric Surgery in the institution. Assistant Professor of Paediatric Surgery is due for creation. The department has regular Out patient &Inpatient services and has 15 beds allotted as per MCI norms. Elective Surgeries are performed weekly. Two operating tables are allotted for the elective list . All emergency Paediatricsurgical cases are attended and surgical procedures performed.Round the clock services are provided.
The Annual performance and Academic activities of the department:
The department is actively involved in the implementation of the CMCHIS scheme since Feb 12 and has performed 100 surgical procedures and secured claim amount of Rs Twenty five lakhs during this period.

Glimpses of Surgical procedures performed:
(1)Neonatal surgery:
Tracheoesophageal fistula,cong diaphragmatic hernia,lung resection,bowel atresias, pyeloplasty,hernias,exomphalos repair,anorectal problems.
(2) Child surgery:
Appendicitis,intestinal obstruction,Puestow procedure for chronic pancreatits,liver injuries,udt,hypospadias,cleft surgeries for lip&palate.
(3)Thoracic surgeries:
Empyema thoracis,eventrationdiaphragm.
(4)Tumor surgeries Neuroblastoma,ovariantumor,rhabdomyosarcoma.

The Paediatric Surgery dept is highly focussed in the care of sicknewborn,infant,children who require Pediatric surgical procedures in this remote geography.The dept is in the process of acquiring Operative Laparoscopy set for minimal access surgery. Constant endeavour is towards achieving goals of NRHM and CMCHIS schemes which ultimate beneficiaries are the children of this rural area.
